The Kansas City Chiefs have acquired wide receiver Kadarius Toney from the New York Giants for a conditional third-round pick and a sixth-round pick, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday.
Toney has missed the Giants' past five games because of hamstring injuries. He told reporters last week that his return has been delayed because he believes he tried to come back from an injury to his right hamstring too soon and injured his left hamstring.
Toney originally injured his right hamstring during training camp. He tweaked that same hamstring in a Week 2 win over the Carolina Panthers. This latest hamstring injury is to his left leg. It occurred during a practice on Oct. 5.
Drafted in the first round by the Giants in the 2021 draft, Toney has two catches for zero yards this season. He has had a rough start to his NFL career has he has missed missed 12 of a possible 24 career games because of a variety of injuries and a bout with COVID-19.
He has 41 catches for 420 yards in the 12 games he has played.
He joins a wide receiver room in Kansas City that was revamped this offseason after Tyreek Hill was traded to the Miami Dolphins. JuJu Smith-Schuster (494 yards) and Marquez Valdes-Scanting (369 yards) were added in free agency and are ranked second and third in receiving yards for the Chiefs this season, behind star tight end Travis Kelce (553 yards).

Who stands to lose receptions?

Seems like they already had a pretty good collection of receivers.

From the Giants for a 3rd and 6th rounder

Wow kinda shocked at this, you would think this takes them out of the OBJ sweepstakes

Could be wrong but I don't see Denver dealing Jeudy. When they admit Russ was a failure, they're gonna wanna be able to say they put him in position to succeed as much as possible. Dealing 1 of their top 2 receivers at the trade deadline 7 games into his tenure on the team would fly in the face of that.

How long is Toney controlled?
You would think a top contender that really needs a WR would put up more than KC offered, and KC does not really need at WR.
Toney is an oft injured knucklehead, but a lot of teams could sure use him...

Good move by Giants. Toney is injury prone and has done nothing in 1+ years. The new Giant management did not draft him and has no use for him, so getting a 3rd and 6th for him is a good move.
Just hope he can stay healthy.

He’s going from turf to Bermuda grass interesting to see if that makes a difference

She's kind of an ass who is always dinged up. But is fast and shifty when she puts on her big boy uniform.

I'm sure the Giants were happy to get two decent picks back for her crappy act.

Giants panicked when they didn’t get Smith. Eagles jumped them. Made a good trade back with bears. But were left in no man’s land and went Toons. Tried justifying the pick.

Florida produces some character issue guys. He is talented that’s for sure. Bit of a head case though. Giants did well in the trade. New coaches can be weird about their guys vs hold overs. Props to Giants for not dealing with him if they didn’t like whatever it was about him. He has been having lingering injuries for weeks and a scratch. Usually teams will basically tell a player “yeah you still have a hamstring injury “ basically meaning shut up and agree that’s why you aren’t playing. Giants probably held him out all these games to prevent injury and get trade value.

Either way something sent them a red flag before camp or simply just not a character team fit under new coaches. The Robinson draft pick was a telling sign. Basically same type player.

Kid has skill that’s for sure. Great trade for Giants and will be interesting how KC uses him. He can be quick on short routes and a good runner. KC likes the jet sweeps and gadget type WR run stuff.

I would almost guarantee he is not hurt. He has been hurt since week 2-3, not practicing and has not been put on IR all these weeks. Right, I believe that. Not! Daboll was trying to make him earn his time
Obviously Toney was not buying in and Daboll was not going to play him.

If his hamstring injury was bad enough for him to not play or practice all these weeks he would have been put on IR. Also there literally has been zero updates on this supposed hamstring injury lol

Has lots of physical ability and could be special, a game breaker possibly.
New regime in NY, they did not draft him and he did not fit in.

Andy Reid has understandably wasted no time working his newest weapon into Kansas City's offense. After seeing a few touches in his Chiefs debut last week, Toney was a focal point in Sunday's win over the Jaguars. He turned his five targets into four catches for 57 yards and the first touchdown of his NFL career while also adding 33 yards on two carries.
